Covid-19 Information for Old Vicarage Guests

We are pleased to announce, after achieving our AA 'Covid-19 Confident' Accreditation and Visit Britain 'We're Good To Go' Industry standard certificate that we are open once again. We have been working extremely hard to make sure we are both COVID safe and compliant for all our guests. In accordance with the government guidelines, we have incorporated some operational changes, please take a moment to read our new safety practices and policies outlined below:

Our Covid-19 Risk Assessment

The Old Vicarage has always put the health and safety of its guests and staff first and this is paramount now during the Covid-19 pandemic.

To minimise the risk of infection from Covid-19 to our guests, staff and to ourselves, we have conducted a thorough Risk Assessment which is in line with all recommended government and local authority guidelines and we comply in full accordance with these. Our Risk Assessment will be regularly revisited to ensure it is up-to-date and takes account any future changes or recommendations which may apply. We will also continually self-assess to ensure the measures we have in place deliver the safest optimum outcome for all our guests.

Space to Social Distance

Current best practice for social distancing is recommended at 2 metres wherever practicable. At the Old Vicarage we are fortunate that we are able to deliver this, ensuring our guests and staff remain as safe as possible. We have two entrances to the hotel, one of which will be for entering the building and the other one for exiting only.

We are fortunate that we have three large ground floor reception rooms to use as separate dining rooms for breakfast (see below).

There is plenty of space in our grounds to relax and enjoy the lovely gardens.

Breakfast and Bar Facilities

At the Old Vicarage we pride ourselves on our award-winning breakfast and generous variety of choices. We are working towards providing as close to our full menu as we can, you will find a menu and order form in your bedroom which we will ask you to complete the night before.

To comply with the social distancing regulations, breakfast will also be served in our two other reception rooms as well as in the usual dining room. In addition, and weather permitting, guests can be served breakfast outside on one of our picnic tables. We will also offer room service for our guests who do not wish to eat in the dining rooms and a packed breakfast/lunch will also be on offer.

Unfortunately, due to the new guidelines, we will no longer be offering a self-serve buffet for fruit, juice and cereals, these items will still be available but will need to be pre-ordered.

Our service staff will be wearing face coverings, gloves and aprons. Orders will be delivered to your table but contact will be kept to a minimum to ensure the safety of our staff as well as guests.

We will still be operating our honesty bar but on a takeout basis only.

Cleaning and Sanitizing Protocol

We have always maintained a very high standard of cleanliness throughout our property and continually achieve standards of excellence from our AA inspection. Due to the risk of infection, an enhanced cleaning and sanitizing schedule has been developed in line with government guidelines. Deep cleaning will be carried out throughout the premises with EU standard anti-viral cleaning and disinfectant solutions. All touch points, such as door handles, switches and surfaces will be sanitized daily and our Housekeepers will wear PPE while cleaning.

To reduce the risk of infection to our guests and Housekeepers, bedrooms will not be serviced daily unless requested. Please leave your waste bins outside the room for emptying. Hospitality trays will be replenished upon request.

Bedrooms will be left empty after check-out for at least 24 hours where possible. Soft furnishings and accessories will be kept to a minimum to reduce the number of contact surfaces. All our laundry will be carried out in-house at 60 degrees Celsius.

Medical grade hand sanitizers and wipes will be available at the main entrance and in all the reception rooms.

Check-in and Check-out

We will aim to make our check-in and check-out policy as simple, safe and clear as possible. We will be contacting all our guests a few days prior to arrival asking for an approximate check-in time and we will aim to stagger these to avoid guests arriving a the same time. To allow for the extra cleaning time required, our new check-in time will be after 2pm.

We will greet you upon arrival from a safe distance and you will retrieve your sanitized keys from your bedroom door. All the above measures will laid out in a welcome letter in your bedroom as well as a Covid-19 questionnaire which we will require all our guests to complete and leave in reception. Please feel free to call or email us at any time during your stay if you have any questions or concerns.

Check-out can be achieved safely following the social distancing rules if you wish to pay your bill by card. We will also offer the option of being emailed a payment link the day before departure to pay online for guests who prefer contactless check-out.

Working Together Ensuring Both a Safe and Enjoyable Stay

These are unprecedented times and due to the ever changing nature of the pandemic we will always work together with government and local authority guidelines. With new information being released continuously, all operational decisions and practices are subject to change. We will monitor every detail and adjust our policies whenever necessary.

Please bear with while we implement these changes, we are all learning to cope with the new way of living with Covid-19. We will do our very best to ensure your stay with us is not only COVID SAFE but as comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable as we can.
