About The Old Vicarage

Family-run Guest House in St. Ives, Cornwall

The Old Vicarage is a 4 Star family-run Guest House (formerly a private hotel) in St. Ives, Cornwall. Set in its own peaceful and secluded wooded grounds with ample free parking, we are located in a quiet residential area near the coastal path just over half a mile from the town centre and beaches.
Renowned for its friendly atmosphere with the warmest of welcomes, this 165 year old one-time Victorian Rectory now has every modern convenience and yet retains the charm and features of the mid 19th Century. The Old Vicarage has been providing quality bed and breakfast accommodation at a reasonable price since 1970, and now also offers a 'room only' option.

Quality Bed and Breakfast Accommodation Assured

Regularly selected for entry in the AA's exclusive Britain's Best Bed and Breakfast Guide, the Old Vicarage has recently undergone considerable refurbishment, particularly of the bedrooms which are now fully en-suite. Following this and under new national accreditation standards the Old Vicarage (formerly Old Vicarage Hotel) is now AA listed as a Guest House and has achieved a 4 Star National Quality Standard Award. The Old Vicarage regularly wins the AA Quality Breakfast Award.

Featuring in the Michelin Red Guide, and Elizabeth Gundrey's "Staying off the Beaten Track", the Old Vicarage has also been a member of the local tourism association for many years and continues to set high standards of service and hospitality.

West Cornwall & Beyond

The Old Vicarage is ideally placed for visiting Land's End, Penzance & St. Michael's Mount, the Minack Theatre, the Eden Project and the Isles of Scilly because, being located on the edge of town (near the Leach Pottery), there is no need to negotiate the quaint, picturesque but very narrow streets of St. Ives town centre.

Green Environmental Credentials

In January 2020, the Old Vicarage received' Plastic free champion' status following a invitation to take part in our local 'Plastic Free St. Ives' campaign. This initiative is driven by Cornish marine conservation charity; 'Surfers Against Sewage' and is part of their wider Plastic Free communities enterprise which encourages towns around the UK to reduce their plastic consumption. To achieve this status, the Old Vicarage had to provide an audit of single use plastics we have already eliminated from our business and detail the plans we have to remove the remaining ones.

As a business, we have been increasingly concerned about plastic pollution for a number of years and have already taken several steps to reduce our usage of plastic. Participating in this campaign has really helped to highlight all the other plastic offenders that we need to eliminate as soon as a suitable, viable alternative can be found. One such substitute we have just introduced, is an environmentally-friendly range of cleaning and laundry products. Made in the UK, Bio D, uses ethically sourced, cruelty free ingredients. All the packaging is made from recycled plastic and is 100% recyclable.

The Old Vicarage was very proud to receive our certificate and plaque after meeting the criteria set by 'Surfers Against Sewage'.
